If you love Oreo cookies (who doesn't?), you have to give one of my favorite treats a try. My Oreo Truffle Recipe is so good!
These little babies are one of my favorite desserts to make with the kids because they're quick, easy and only require a handful of ingredients.
The kids love crushing the Oreos by hand, but a food processor is quicker (and neater!) Sometimes you just have to get messy to make something delicious, and that's OK!
My Oreo Truffle Balls would be perfect treat for a special occasion, but who says 2 PM on a Tuesday isn't special? If you love a good sweet treat - celebrate!

💭 Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some questions (and answers!) readers often ask about making Oreo cream cheese balls.
I don't recommend microwaving cream cheese to soften it. Instead, follow these steps:
1. Remove the cream cheese from the refrigerator and unwrap.
2. Place the cream cheese block onto a cutting board.
3. Cut into 8 equal pieces.
4. Let set on the counter for 15-20 minutes.
Store your truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week - if they last that long!
Keep the Oreo Truffle Balls refrigerated until you are ready to serve them. (Plus they taste best this way, also!) However, it is okay to leave them out for a little, no more than two hours.

When given the chance, I will always go for the sweets like these Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies, which are so good they should probably be illegal. Here are a few more of my favorite desserts to bring to parties or serve when I'm entertaining:
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bars are everything you love about raw cookie dough, without the egg. Oh, and in case that's not enough to sway you, they're topped with ganache, too.
- Graham Cracker Toffee is the stuff dreams are made of - buttery toffee with chocolate and crunchy chopped pecans.
- Homemade Twix Cookie Recipe is the most tender shortbread cookie with luscious caramel centers. These are topped with a chocolate drizzle that might just be better than their namesake.
- Pumpkin Cheesecake Balls are an easy make-ahead dessert that's perfect for Fall!
Tips
- Using a food processor to crush the cookies to fine crumbs is super easy. However, you can also put the cookies into a plastic bag and crush them to make the Oreo crumbs.
- Candy wafers are the easiest to work with, but semi-sweet chocolate or dark chocolate tastes better, in my opinion. My favorite kind of chocolate to use for melting is Ghirardelli Chocolate Melts.
Decorate your truffles with chocolate drizzles, sprinkles, or both! They are great for a variety of special occasions. These would be perfect for birthday parties or baby showers.
📖 Variations
We recommend that you try our cookie truffles for the first time just as it is written for the best results because that is how the recipe has been tested.
However, the next time you make them, you might consider one of these different ways of making this great recipe.
- Substitute milk chocolate or white chocolate instead of dark chocolate. You can also use almond bark if you prefer.
- Peanut butter, instead of cream cheese makes a great addition to the texture and flavor.
- Instead of regular Oreo cookies, use golden Oreos or another flavor.
- For the holidays, drizzle with melted white chocolate chips and add crushed candy canes to the top. You could even add a little peppermint extract to the crushed oreos and cream cheese mixture.
- For Valentine's Day, use white chocolate candy melts and decorate with heart-themed sprinkles.
These delicious OREO balls are also a perfect addition to a Hot Cocoa Board. Make a whimsical selection of treats and cocoa for game day, movie nights, sledding parties, and more!

The first time I made these Oreo Truffle Balls, they almost didn't make it to their destination. I planned to make a dessert for the teacher luncheon I was helping to plan for PTA. Everyone loves Oreos, and I knew they'd be a huge hit.
That same week, I had also promised my husband I would make him something to take into his staff at work as a token of appreciation. I had planned to make my Almond Joy Brownies for him to take with him at the end of the week. It's another favorite, but nuts aren't allowed at school.
Well, long story short, my husband grabbed the wrong container from the refrigerator and I ended up chasing him down our street in my pajamas to swap the containers!
