You can make up two or three ahead of time and just grab one on your way out the door. Add a fresh loaf of local bread or some tasty crackers and a pretty ribbon, and you’ve got a thoughtful little gift.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter: Using unsalted butter means that you can control the amount of salt in the recipe.
  • Whole Cranberry Sauce: Grab a can of whole berry cranberry sauce from the grocery store. This will save you lots of time and effort over using fresh cranberries.
  • Honey: Adds sweetness. You can also substitute agave nectar.
  • Sea Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the cranberry flavor.

Optional: if you like the flavor of oranges, add a little bit of orange zest to this cranberry butter recipe.

For Gifting:

  • Scoop out the butter mixture with a rubber spatula and fill your jar.
  • Wipe the rims and seal the jar tightly.
  • Wrap the jars with parchment paper and twine, or wait until you’re ready to hand them out.

      1. Hi Ilene – you can absolutely freeze cranberry butter! Whether you are making logs or putting it into jars, I recommend putting it into a freezer bag to help keep it fresh. If you put it into jars, be sure to leave a little headspace as the butter mixture will expand when it freezes. In optimal conditions, it will keep up to 3 months. ENJOY!
