I don’t know about your house, but with eight stinky feet, dirty diapers and a cat litter box, every now and then my house smells less-than-heavenly, if you know what I mean! I decided to make a quick diffuser with my own oils rather than using a pricy store-bought specialty diffuser oil. Its so simple you’re going to wonder why you didn’t think of it first, heehee.
Since I’m on a Mod Podge kick right now, I thought I’d try upcycling an old plastic drink mix container. I have to say I’m pretty pleased with the results, despite a few teeny flaws.
scrapbook paper (not cardstock)
paint or foam brush
1/4″ cross-grain ribbon
1/2 cup water
splash of Vodka (cheap)
Coat the entire paper-covered container with a thin layer of Mod Podge. I found just one layer worked great for me, but you could use a second coat, or a sparkle/shimmer Mod Podge on the top if you wanted.
To give the container a finished look, use a 1/4″ ribbon around the top and bottom to cover the edges. Measure and cut your ribbon to length. Once the Mod Podge has completely dried, apply a bit of fabric glue along the length of the ribbon. Line up the end of the ribbon with the bottom seam of your paper and wrap around, smoothing bumps as you go. Repeat this step for the stop of the container.
